More and more obstetrical units close every month in the US. These patients land in the emergency department with a variety of complications, including preterm labor, precipitous delivery, postpartum pre-eclampsia and others. This session will review how rural emergency departments can prepare to manage obstetrical emergencies in the setting of maternity deserts and lack of resources, delayed transport decisions and/or long transport times.
