This session will prepare the learner on how to rapidly and accurately make an appropriate determination as to decisional making capacity of the ED patient with a focus on HIGH RISK populations including intoxicated, psychiatric and geriatric patients. Through case-based learning, our discussion will define what capacity is (and is not), review the steps in determining patient capacity and highlight documentation pearls all emergency medicine physicians MUST know.
